NHA Heritage Craft

The Nantucket Historical Association is keeping the island’s artistic traditions alive through its Heritage Craft program, a collection of hands-on workshops focused on the skills and techniques connected to Nantucket’s history.

NHA

For more than 20 years, the NHA has offered workshops that give participants the opportunity to learn traditional crafts directly from experienced artisans. Today, the program includes everything from Nantucket lightship basket weaving and sailor’s valentines to decorative bandboxes, shell work, woven jewelry, and other time-honored techniques.

This fall, the NHA is inviting both beginners and experienced makers to take part in a new season of small, hands-on classes. The workshops are designed for all skill levels and offer a chance to learn the stories and techniques behind these crafts while creating something of your own.

Whether you’re interested in Nantucket history, traditional craftsmanship, or simply trying something new, the Heritage Craft workshops offer a unique way to connect with the island’s creative past.
