NHA Fall Festival Returns to the Oldest House in 2026

Fall on Nantucket brings cooler days, quieter streets, and plenty of opportunities to gather with the island community. This September, the Nantucket Historical Association welcomes families and friends back to the historic Oldest House for its annual Fall Festival, a day filled with history, music, activities, and seasonal fun.

Taking place on Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., this year’s festival invites visitors to explore colonial life on Nantucket while joining in the celebration of America 250. The event is free and open to the community.

A Fall Afternoon at the Oldest House

Set atop Sunset Hill, the Jethro Coffin House-often called the Oldest House-provides a fitting backdrop for an afternoon centered around Nantucket history. Built in 1686 as a wedding gift for Jethro Coffin and Mary Gardner, the house remains on its original site and is one of the island’s most recognizable historic properties.

Throughout the festival, guests can tour the historic house and garden, take part in family-friendly crafts, enjoy lawn games, listen to live music, and learn more about life on Nantucket during the colonial era.

The spacious lawn also makes a perfect spot to settle in for lunch. Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic, or enjoy food available for purchase from Eat Fire Pizza and Hang Loose Helado during the event.
