Watch the Water Competition from our Web Cam

Celebrate Independence Day on Nantucket with all-day events on Thursday, July 4th. Locations include Main Street, Children’s Beach, and Jetties Beach! Thanks to the Nantucket Culture & Tourism Department for organizing this amazing day!

Fisher Must-Dos for July 4th on Nantucket:

★ Head to town early for the water competition between the Nantucket Fire Dept & the Boynton Lane Reserves

★ Stop by our office and pick up a patriotic Fisher sweatband

★ Enjoy the water fight but water-protect your cell phones/cameras!

★ Watch Lizza’s Nanpuppets show at Children’s Beach at 11am

★ Walk, ride your bike, or take the free NRTA Shuttle to the beach in the afternoon 

★ Make sure dogs are safe and can’t escape if spooked by fireworks

★ Head to the grocery store at off-peak hours for grilling necessities 

★ Enjoy the fireworks with family & friends

Main Street, Downtown Nantucket:

8:30 – 12:30: Farmer’s Market and food trucks
9:00: Declaration of Independence reading at Unitarian Universalist Church
10:00 – 12:30: DJ Scott Capizzo
10:30: Water competition between Nantucket Fire Department and Boynton Lane Reserves. The public should expect to get wet within the “Spray Zone.” Attendees are asked to refrain from bringing water balloons, soakers, and other ‘water competition’ materials.

Children’s Beach:

10:30: P.J. Moody sings the National Anthem
10:30 – 12:00: Matt Fee Tea Toss, cornhole, face painting
11:00: Nanpuppets show
11:30: P.J. Moody performance
11:55: Bike parade
5:00: Games including three-legged, wheelbarrow, potato sack races, and tug of war

Jetties Beach:

9:00: Fireworks

Transportation

Parking will be very limited in the downtown area and Jetties Beach area. Consider walking, biking, or taking the free NRTA Wave bus (runs various island routes all day). For the fireworks, FREE NRTA Wave buses will run from 6:00 p.m. from The Whaling Museum to Jetties Beach, returning until 10:30 p.m.
