Celebrate the Magic of Reading at Children’s Book Day 2026

Children’s Book Day Returns to Children’s Beach

The Nantucket Book Foundation invites families to Children’s Beach on Saturday, August 22nd, for a morning celebrating books, creativity, and the joy of storytelling. From 9:30 AM to 12 PM, Children’s Book Day brings together local children’s authors from Cape Cod and the Islands, along with performances, music, crafts, games, and plenty of activities for young readers.

Set along the harbor at Children’s Beach, it’s an easy way for families to spend a summer morning together while introducing kids to new stories, authors, and a little literary magic.

Meet the Authors & Special Guests

This year’s featured author is Robin Newman, author of Who’s Writing This Book?

Families can also enjoy stories in both Spanish and English with Maria and Sofi, authors of Lola and Coco’s Magical Journey to the End of the Rainbow.

Throughout the morning, a lineup of special guests will join the celebration, including G.Pa Rhymes, Mollie Elkman, Carrie Kruck, Jeff Verney, and Kate Mastellone.

More Than Books

There will be plenty happening beyond storytime. Kids can enjoy a live performance by Magic Mark, Music and Movement with Cory Morgan, and hands-on crafts with Barnaby’s Toy & Art.

Games, scavenger hunts, and other activities will keep young visitors busy throughout the morning, making Children’s Book Day just as much about playing and creating as it is about discovering a new favorite book.

Whether you have an enthusiastic young reader at home or a little one just beginning to discover the world of stories, Children’s Book Day is a fun way to celebrate imagination and spend one of the final summer mornings at Children’s Beach.
