What does the Fisher Crew do when we are not working at 21 Main Street, showing our clients homes for sale or doing vacation rental check-ins? Read on for our favorite local activities found in the 2021 Fisher Nantucket Travel Guide.

How to Travel in Your Own Town

“I love fishing early in the morning. You start under a starlit sky and in August the boat’s wake will glow from the phosphorescence. It’s something special to watch the sunrise over the water with a fish on the other end of the line!”

Danno Lynch, Sales & Rental Agent

Tupancy Links & Sanford Farm are my favorite walking trails, especially with my NISHA rescue, Millie. She loves playing with pals at Tupancy (Nantucket’s unofficial dog park) and for longer walks we hike the 6-mile loop to the ocean at Sanford Farm. Both spots have incredible water views!”

Sarah Holmes, Sales & Rental Agent

nantucket community music center

“My husband and I are very fortunate to be raising our son and daughter in this amazing community. The island’s non-profits work hard to provide so many experiences for children. Taking music lessons from the Nantucket Community Music Center, playing travel soccer with the Nantucket Club Soccer, swimming with the Nantucket Community School, and basketball at the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club are just a few of the activities my kids are so lucky to do!”

Joelle Bouchard, Sales Broker & Rental Agent

“I love being active outdoors and recently joined the Nantucket Racquet Sports Association this year which offers paddle tennis and pickleball. The level of competition is great and there are leagues at every level to match your play. Disc golf at the State Forest is also a blast! ”

Quinn Veysey, Sales & Rental Agent

great point nantucket

“I love to drive out to Great Point Beach with friends and family. We either make our own clambake or bring one to-go from one of the various fish markets. Great Point is one of the most peaceful places on the island. We always make sure to bring our guests here when they come to visit!”

Liza Hatton, Sales & Rental Agent

“With sunrise as early as 5am, I love starting the day with outdoor exercise. Luckily, there are several opportunities to join other fellow athletes who enjoy the same, whether it be biking, swimming or running. Reach out if you’d like to learn more about these casual meet-ups while you’re on island!”

Jen Allen, Principal Broker

“When it’s finally time to leave the beach my group and I always stop at 167 Raw for fish tacos and lobster rolls. The food is so fresh and it’s one of the best lobster rolls on island, without a doubt. Whether you’re taking it to-go or enjoying their garden seating you can’t miss out!”

  J. Brent Tartamella, Sales & Rental Agent

“We all know the most memorable days are the spontaneous ones! My husband, our two- and four-year old girls and myself love quick trips to Monomoy to search for hermit crabs or Nobaside to look for sand dollars. We love having such easy access to beautiful beaches and being able to have our toes in the sand at a moment’s notice.”

Gina O’Callaghan, Sales Broker & Rental Agent

“I am so excited that the Summer Groove will be taking place again this year in a modified format. The event benefits the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club. The organization is such a staple to the community, so not only is the event a blast, but it’s amazing to see how much is raised each year!”

Erin Wilson, Sales & Rental Agent

“The Discovery Playground on Old South Road is the best way to start the day with kiddos! Created by the Land Bank & the Maria Mitchell Association, ride the zip lines, play the musical instruments and explore Hinsdale Park to find the Labyrinth and neigh at the neighboring farm animals.”

  Gaelan Truyman, Marketing Manager

“I love getting out on the water with family or friends to catch and release whatever is biting week to week. Whether it’s June and the Stripers are in full force, July/August when the Bonito are plentiful, or chasing False Albacore around the island in August and September. I count on Bill Fisher Tackle to make sure I am using the right gear for the right fish.”

Marleah Lydon, Office Manager

“I like to start my days in the State Forest, which has a network of trails that wind through the Nantucket Disc Golf Course. Accessed off either Lovers Lane or Fairgrounds Road, these trails are centrally located which makes it easy to get a quick hike in. For a more classic coastal feel, I head to the Umass Field Station at 180 Polpis Road. My favorite part of the property, though, are the trails that wind up and down small hills past a small pond and open up atop a cliff overlooking the whole harbor, with beautiful views of Pocomo.”

Lara Hanson, Sales Broker & Rental Agent

moor's end farm nantucket

“My go-to in the summer is Moors End Farm. I love stocking up on their fresh fruit and produce for the week. They also have homemade pasta from Oran Mor Bistro, beautiful flower arrangements and so much more. I highly suggest grilling their shishito peppers for a real summertime treat!”

Cait Kappler, Project & Branding Manager

“As a board member and a father, the Maria Mitchell Association is an incredible organization on island. Every Spring my son and I catch different fish and sea creatures and donate them to the Aquarium for others to learn about. At the end of the season, they are then released back to their habitat! From the Observatory to the kid’s camps there’s something for everyone at the MMA! ”

  Brian Sullivan, Principal Broker

“I love being on the water, but what’s even better is when I get to enjoy it with my kids. Captain Josh (my first job and boss on Nantucket) runs the Critter Cruise off Straight Wharf. It is the purest family activity on Nantucket – enjoy!”

  Cam Gammill, Principal Broker
