On Sunday, October 22nd, Friends of Nantucket Public Schools (FONPS) held their annual kids Bike-a-Thon. The young participants rode 4 miles from the Elementary School out to Surfside Beach and back, raising money for the PTO group which helps support our children and teachers with school field trips, scholarships for the children and non-budgeted curriculum enhancements.

On this blustery autumn morning, the efforts of less than two dozen children and generous donations from our community helped to raise over $2600 for FONPS.

FONPS is grateful to Young’s Bicycle Shop for donating a new bike as the grand prize to the top fundraiser, along with the additional businesses who helped to support the Bike-A-Thon participants. We also want to send a shout out to the Nantucket Police Department and the CSO’s for riding alongside the kids to keep us all safe! If you are interested in participating, please keep an eye out for next year’s Bike-a-Thon!

If you would like to learn more about FONPS, please see: Friends of Nantucket Public Schools.
The group is always in search of volunteers from the community – whether it be volunteering for actual events or for sitting on the board of directors.

Check out the highly anticipated Holiday House Tour for their largest event of the year, this coming Stroll weekend! Details to be released soon!

Ride on!
