Baskets, Bubbles & Bourbon: A Nantucket Summer Celebration of Craft and Community
Few traditions are as closely tied to Nantucket as the island’s iconic lightship basket. Elegant, practical, and deeply rooted in maritime history, these handwoven pieces have become one of Nantucket’s most recognizable art forms. This summer, the Nantucket Historical Association invites the community to celebrate that legacy at Baskets, Bubbles & Bourbon, an annual benefit event honoring the craft, history, and collectors who help keep this treasured tradition alive.
The 2026 event will take place on Friday, June 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the NHA Eleanor Ham Pony Field at 10 Mill Street. Guests can look forward to a festive summer evening featuring bubbles, bourbon, conversation, and a shared appreciation for Nantucket’s basket-making heritage.

Nantucket lightship baskets are deeply connected to the island’s maritime history and continue to be celebrated as works of craftsmanship and coastal heritage. Whether you are a longtime collector or simply interested in learning more about this distinctive Nantucket art form, Baskets, Bubbles & Bourbon offers a memorable way to experience and support island history.

A highlight of the evening will be the curated auction, featuring exceptional new works by leading contemporary artisans. Several pieces will reflect unique collaborations with other talented craftspeople, offering a dynamic fusion of tradition and innovation.
As always, refreshments will elevate the experience. Guests will enjoy a bourbon tasting, in addition to signature bubbles, craft cocktails, and seasonal light bites.
