In Full Bloom: Nantucket Garden Festival 2025
Each July, when hydrangeas are at their bluest and summer is in full swing, Nantucket celebrates the beauty and importance of the natural world with the Nantucket Garden Festival. Set to return for its 16th year, the 2025 Garden Festival will take place July 16–18, welcoming locals, visitors, and green thumbs of all ages to explore the intersection of landscape design, horticulture, conservation, and island community.
Hosted by the Nantucket Garden Club, this beloved festival offers three days of engaging programming—from private garden tours to hands-on workshops and expert-led panel discussions—all designed to inspire sustainable landscaping practices and deepen appreciation for Nantucket’s unique ecosystem.
What to Expect in 2025
Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or simply enjoy a beautiful view, there’s something for everyone:
Garden Tours: Step behind the hedges and into some of the island’s most stunning private gardens. These self-guided or docent-led tours offer a rare glimpse into the creativity and care that go into Nantucket’s lush landscapes.
Workshops & Demonstrations: Learn how to create pollinator-friendly plantings, build a cutting garden, arrange wildflowers, or explore native species in your own backyard.
Talks & Lectures: Hear from landscape architects, ecologists, and sustainability advocates as they discuss the challenges and rewards of gardening on Nantucket—and how we can all play a role in protecting this fragile island environment.
Family Activities: The festival also includes nature-themed crafts and outdoor fun for kids, making it a wonderful multi-generational event.
Supporting the Island Through Gardening
Proceeds from the Garden Festival benefit the Nantucket Garden Club’s civic projects, scholarships, and conservation initiatives. That includes island beautification, educational outreach, and grants that support local environmental efforts.
For those who love Nantucket’s natural beauty, the Garden Festival is a meaningful way to give back while enjoying a one-of-a-kind summer event.
