The Cause
If you’re looking for the feel-good event of the summer, mark your calendars for August 24th, 2019 at Jetties Beach. Swim Across America is a national organization that benefits the various local communities in which the swim events are hosted. The Nantucket swim is headed into its seventh year on the island and proceeds will support cancer care treatment and patient care at Nantucket Cottage Hospital and Palliative and Supportive Care on Nantucket. Through the efforts of SAA – Nantucket, residents and visitors alike can receive outstanding cancer treatment and support on the island.
The Logistics
This year’s event will kick off at Jetties Beach at 8am. It is always a wonderful, community event that is sure to make you appreciate your friends, family and this beautiful island.
Join hundreds of swimmers, including Olympians. at a gorgeous venue for a day to remember. Choose from a 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, 1 mile or Kids’ Splash option, or take part in the 4-mile distance on August 17th. I’ll be swimming in both events and Team Fisher is already busy fundraising.
If you aren’t a swimmer, don’t worry. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities or you can just come down to observe and support Nantucket.
