Now in their 66th season, the Theatre Workshop of Nantucket will be performing the following shows in 2022:
Meteor Shower by Steve Martin
May 26 – June 18
Meteor Shower is a new comedy from the genius mind of Steve Martin. Corky and Norm are excited to host Gerald and Laura at their home in the valley outside Los Angeles to watch a once-in-a-lifetime meteor shower. But as the stars come out and the conversation gets rolling, it becomes clear that Gerald and Laura might not be all that they appear to be. Over the course of a crazy, starlit dinner party, the wildly unexpected occurs. The couples begin to flirt and insanity reigns. Martin, using his trademark absurdist humor, bends the fluid nature of time and reality to create a surprising and unforgettably funny new play.
We Will Rock You by Queen and Ben Elton
July 8 – August 13
We Will Rock You, the Queen musical, featuring more than 20 hit Queen songs including “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Killer Queen,” “Somebody To Love,” “We Are the Champions,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” and many more. We Will Rock You follows two revolutionaries as they try to save rock ‘n’ roll in a post-apocalyptic world. In an age where algorithms predict our every preference, We Will Rock is a musical for our time: a fist-pumping, foot-stomping anthem to individuality.
On Golden Pond by Ernest Thompson
September 2 – September 24
This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond. He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, with heart palpitations and a failing memory—but still is tart-tongued, observant, and eager for life as ever. Ethel, his wife, delights in all the small things that have enriched their long life together. “On Golden Pond” navigates the ups and downs of family life and ultimately enjoying the time we have left.
Scrooge the Musical by Leslie Bricusse
November 18 – December 10
In 1970, renowned writer/composer/lyricist Leslie Bricusse adapted the classic Charles Dickens tale A Christmas Carol into the hit screen musical Scrooge! In this timeless adaptation of A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a profound experience of redemption in the course of Christmas Eve night. He is visited by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley, as well from the ghosts of his past, present, and future. Bring the whole family this coming holiday season!
