My #1 overall favorite appetizer on island is the Nantucket Bay Scallops wrapped in bacon from the Lobster Trap. While it may seem verbose, it’s worth calling out Nantucket Bay Scallops over other scallops to differentiate them.

They’re smaller than sea scallops, they’re sweeter and a truly unique Nantucket delicacy that I’ve seen often imitated, but never duplicated in taste. Insider tip is that you’re instantly identified as an outsider if you pronounce scallop with a hard “A” instead of the “AH”.
