HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Thanks to the Nantucket Department of Culture and Tourism for this schedule of activities to do for the 4th of July on Nantucket! The fireworks this year will be held on Thursday, July 5th. Don’t forget to use the hashtags #July4thACK & #ACKFireworks.

Wednesday, July 4th

Main Street Activities

Please note water balloons are not allowed at the Main Street activities this year.

9:00am — 15th Annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence, Unitarian Church
10:00am – 11:45am — Festivities on Main Street begin including: Dunk Tank, Watermelon Eating Contest, Face Painting, Pie Eating Contest, Matt Fee Tea Toss, and MORE!
10:30am — NanPuppet Show in front of Methodist Church at Corner of Main and Center Streets
11:00am — Bike Decorating Contest (including tricycles and wagons) on Federal Street
High Noon — Water Fight between Town firefighters and the Boynton Lane Reserves

Nantucket July 4th

Children’s Beach Activities

4:30 – 5:30pm — Balloon Wizard, Bobby Lamb will be on site to create animal shaped balloons for kids of all ages!

5:00 – 6:00pm — On the beach, there will be games for kids ages 6-12. Running Races, Three-Legged Races, Potato Sack Race, Wheel Barrow Race and the infamous Tug-of-War! Winners will receive ribbons!

6:00 – 7:00pm — Music by the Nantucket Music Chorus Jazz Band on the bandstand

Thursday, July 5th

Fireworks at Jetties Beach 9PM (rain date is Friday, July 6th)

The fireworks display will be in sync with music on the radio. Bring your radio and listen to 97.7 WACK fm. Enjoy the show!

Please bring a blanket or chair and remember to bring an extra bag for your trash. Help keep our beautiful island clean.

Catch The Wave bus to the Fireworks!​

  • Beginning at 6:00 PM, NRTA buses will leave the Whaling Museum on Broad Street approximately every 10-15 minutes.
  • Fares are $2 each way, $1 for Senior Citizens. Children under 6 are free.
  • After the event buses will depart Bathing Beach Road and Hulbert Avenue and return to Broad Street approximately every 20-30 minutes until 11:00 p.m.
