PROTECT OUR WATER ON NANTUCKET

Avoid harsh chemicals that end up in our water with this great recipe for homemade weed killer.

Roundup is the most widely-used herbicide in the world. The long-term impacts that it has on the environment and human health has raised plenty of concerns.

Control weeds safely using common household ingredients. Apply this mix with a sprayer in the morning after the dew has evaporated to quickly eliminate weeds.

Homemade Weed Control Recipe

  • 1 Gallon Vinegar
  • 2 Cups Epsom Salt
  • 1/4 Cup Original Dawn Dish Soap

In 2003, a group of concerned islanders established the Nantucket Shellfish Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with the aim of protecting and promoting the Nantucket shell fishing industry.  The Nantucket Shellfish Association encourages research and education for the conservation and enhancement of shellfish populations in the waters of  Nantucket Island; and  it works to assure prudent commercial and recreational harvesting of shellfish in support of a diversified economic base for the Nantucket community.
