Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum Family Day

Free Family Day Monday, June 24, 10a.m. to 2p.m.

158 Polpis Road

Egan Maritime’s Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum is offering a FREE Family Day to all island visitors and residents! From 10am to 2pm on Monday, June 24, you are invited to the Museum for this annual family-friendly program offering crafts, activities, and stories for all ages. This program is free thanks to the generous and loyal support of Ritchie, Katie, and Westray Battle.

Evan Schwanfelder, Egan’s Manager of Maritime Education, is curating activities for patrons of all ages. He commented, “We are excited to unveil a new list of activities for Family Days this year. These crafts and games combine historical, seafaring themes with educational concepts, hands-on lessons, and thrilling entertainment.” Additionally, Pauline Proch, Egan Maritime’s Executive Director stated, “We are immensely grateful to the Battle family for supporting this valuable, important program for the third year. Providing historical, educational, and enjoyable programming for island residents and visitors of all ages is essential to our mission. Due to the vital support and thoughtful contributions of the Battle family, we are able to offer Family Days free of charge.”

The Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum will host three free Family Days before the end of the 2019 season. The first will be Monday, June 24; then, Wednesday, July 10; and finally, Wednesday, August 14. Family Day includes free Museum admission as well as activities, such as quarterboard building, Morse code bracelet making, enthralling shipwreck stories, and a demonstration of the breeches buoy lifesaving drill. Egan Maritime is proud to recognize The Margaret Ritchie R. Battle Family Charitable Fund and Ritchie, Westray and Katie for the gift of free historical experiences and memories for all Nantucket families. For the third consecutive year, their support offsets Museum admission during Family Days, making these programs and experiences free and open to all.
