Nantucket Dreamland Movie Theater

Looking for something great for your kids to do this summer? The Dreamland Stage Company offers a variety of weekday, Summer Theatre Programs and Camps aimed at bringing your child’s talent to the next level. These Programs and Camps teach Character Development Skills like Public Speaking, Stage Presence, and Self-Confidence. 

Dreamland Actor’s Company

Ages 8-16 (July 2nd-August 10)

This is the most rigorous program for students 8 to 16 who possess a strong interest in the performing arts. Young artists hone their capabilities and strengths as performers over a five-week rehearsal period. They also work with other talented students and stage a full-scale musical production. This year, join in the fun of Disney’s High School Musical Jr.!

Dreamland Youth 

Ages 9-16-Week Long sessions from July 2nd-6th, July 9th-13th, July 16th-20th, July 23rd-27th, July 30th-August 3rd, August 6th-10th

Over the course of 5 days, Dreamland Youth will collaborate with each other and their teaching artist to bring a scripted show to the stage. Through the rehearsal process, students will investigate the world of theatre through exercises and games that activate both their physical instrument and their imaginations as we prepare for our final performance on Friday!  Class meets Monday – Friday, 9 am to noon at The Congregational Church Great Room – 62 Center Street. 

Dreamland Kids

Ages 5-8-Week Long sessions from July 2nd-6th, July 9th-13th, July 16th-20th, July 23rd-27th, July 30th-August 3rd, August 6th-10th

Over the course of 5 days, Dreamland Kids will create characters, design costumes and props as they rehearse and perform adaptations of beloved children’s stories!  Each week, we will bring a new tale to life. To transition from storybook to script, campers explore theatre through games, improvisations and storyboarding as we prepare for our final performance.  Class meets Monday – Friday, 9 am to noon in The Nantucket Dreamland Studio Theatre, 2nd Floor.

BROADWAY DANCE

In partnership with Nantucket Music Center.

Class meets July 9th – 27th: Monday and Wednesday sessions 10:00-11:30am

Shows such as Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen have changed the way we think about what choreography means on Broadway. Taught by Dreamland Teaching Artists, both new and seasoned dancers will learn how to fully engage your body in safe and healthy movement while expanding your contemporary choreographic vocabulary.  Attend this dance class to broaden your scope of what new kinds of movement you can do! For experienced and new dancers, the class will ignite your spirit, soul and imagination.  $100.00.  Ages 9 and up.

PROP SHOP – THE VISUAL ARTS FOR THEATER

Mondays & Wednesdays, 1:30–4:00 p.m. July 9 & 11, July 16 & 18, July 23 & 25, July 30 & August 1, August 6 & 8

A collaboration between AAN and The Nantucket Dreamland, this workshop gives participants a look a the behind the scenes work of theatre. Each week’s class will work with the corresponding Dreamland Stage Company theatre camp and create props, set pieces and costumes for the final performance piece. $110.00 – plus materials fee of $20.00
