Living on island year-round we often hear the question from summer residents and visitors, “what do you do in the winter on Nantucket?” I always say that we live in a ski town with no mountain. There is plenty to do! Nantucket is still pretty lively throughout the winter and we are blessed with more mild weather than most places in New England.

My cousin has been coming out in the summer for her whole life. This past Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, she came for the first time during the winter on Nantucket. We were blessed with beautiful weather and even a light snowfall. We had a great weekend, enjoyed uncrowded restaurants like the Nautilus and Or, the Whale, a Brian Glowacki comedy show, cocktails at Cisco Brewery and an epic trip out to Great Point to look for snowy owls. As she left, she said that she never thought she would like the quiet offseason more than the summer.

For us who live here year-round, we understand how great the community is and how beautify special this island is 30 miles out to sea. This winter if you have an opportunity to come and check it out, we highly recommend it.
