There’s nothing worse than arriving at a much-anticipated vacation destination, only to find one of your little travelers has come down with a cold or fever. But rest assured, Nantucket has ample resources to ensure a speedy recovery for your loved one. We’re here to take the guesswork out of Nantucket healthcare, so you or your family can focus on getting better!

Walk-In Care

Seasonal walk-in care at Nantucket Cottage Hospital has become an important resource for island locals and visitors alike. If you find you’ve fallen ill during the summer months (mid-June to early September), head to the Anderson Building at 57 Prospect Street. For their opening hours, give the clinic a call at (508) 825-1066.

The clinic is most appropriate for minor illnesses, such as colds, viruses, earaches, tick bites, and sore throats. You will likely be seen by a Physicians Assistant, who will help you get off the couch and back to the beach in no time!

Emergency Room at the Nantucket Cottage Hospital

For more serious or after-hours ailments, head to the emergency room at Nantucket Cottage Hospital. Located just across the parking lot from the Anderson Building at 57 Prospect, the emergency room sees patients 24 hours a day.

Addressing over 11,000 emergencies a year, Nantucket Cottage Hospital is ready to aid you with injuries from biking, boating, and more. Moreover, additional staff are on call during the summer months when our population grows. If necessary, patients can also be transferred to Boston via a medical helicopter flight.

Pharmacies

If you’re simply looking to refill a prescription, or for a place to pick up some NyQuil or an anti-histamine, these Nantucket pharmacies have your back.

Nantucket Pharmacy (Town)

If you’re staying in town, you’ll find this pharmacy just a short walk away at 45 Main Street. So give them a call at (508) 228-0180.

Cottage Pharmacy (South of Town)

Located across from the Nantucket Cottage Hospital. (508) 825-7300

Dan’s Pharmacy (Mid-Island)

You’ll find Dan’s at 110 Pleasant Street, just a stone’s throw from Island Pharmacy. Open until 8pm, they close later than Nantucket and Cottage Pharmacies. Reach them at (508) 825-9100.

Stop & Shop (Mid-Island)

While the largest grocery store on the island does not have a pharmacy, they do have an aisle dedicated to over-the-counter medications and are open until midnight.
