This Thursday afternoon there were some happy campers over at the Nantucket Boys & Girls Club. Thanks to the Hang Loose Helado Ice Cream Truck, Strong Wings, and Fisher Real Estate, all the kids at the Boys and Girls Club were provided the opportunity to get free ice cream!
Hang Loose Helado is the only ice cream truck on Nantucket! Making its first appearance on the island in 2020, Hang Loose Helado has been making good on its promise to “Deliver Smiles Daily!” Chris Getoor started the ice cream truck last year and was also the one who approached Fisher with the idea to provide free ice cream to the kids at the Nantucket Boys and Girls Club. Chris is the Executive Director at Strong Wings Adventure Camp as well. One thing that’s clear is that Chris has truly left a mark on the Nantucket community, and he continues to do so: again and again!
Strong Wings is an adventure school in Nantucket that began in 1991 with the mission to, “provide outdoor adventure programming which builds confidence through challenge, encourages respect and appreciation for nature, and fosters physical and emotional strength in students.” Strong Wings works with children of “all ages, abilities, needs, and backgrounds” and has played an important role in developing Nantucket’s youth.
The Nantucket Boys and Girls Club is an organization that has been helping the island’s youth since 1945. Their mission, “to empower the youth of Nantucket to reach their fullest potential” has continuously been achieved through the countless programs and opportunities they offer Nantucket’s youth.
