The Saltmarsh Center Nantucket
Need a new hobby? Socialization can be the key to happiness! The Saltmarsh Center, Nantucket’s local senior center, offers frequent activities throughout the week. There is something for all to enjoy from bingo and bridge to crafting and knitting- or stay active with a variety of fitness classes. Tai Chi or Yoga anyone? If that doesn’t interest you, please join us for information lectures and workshops. We also invite you to join our congregate lunch program and monthly Saltmarsh dinners- good food and great company, what more could you ask for?
Caregiver Support Groups
Happen to be a caregiver? We have your back. There are a variety of support groups for caregivers and families. Palliative & Supportive Care of Nantucket (PASCON) provide caregiver and grief support groups. An Alzheimer’s support group is also available at Our Island Home. Speaking of support, we hope to launch Nantucket’s very own Memory Café, offering a comfortable and safe space for those living with dementia and their loved ones. Our goal is to encourage involvement and ensure clients and caregivers feel supported by their community. This ties into Nantucket being a “dementia friendly” community: we seek to provide the necessary education to help community members recognize the signs of dementia and learn how to interact with those living with this disease.
