“The Atheneum library has purchased 9 Cachalot Lane for $3.5M in an expanded effort to provide housing for their employees. Brokered by Fisher Principal Brian Sullivan, the sale will guarantee employee sustainability for the island’s historic public library.
The property covers .57-acres and boasts two homes of four bedrooms each. As executive director Ann Scott told the Inquirer and Mirror, ‘We want to take good care of our hardworking staff who create year-round learning opportunities for the whole community. Their job is to empower and inspire, and our job is to empower and enable them to do the best work they can for this incredible community.’
Tracey Flannery, chair of the Atheneum board, also reported, ‘Having housing for our valued staff will enable them to focus on providing exceptional programming and services without having to be concerned about where to live.'”
