2026 Nantucket Annual Town Election Results
Nantucket voters headed to the polls on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, for the Annual Town Election, casting 3,052 ballots and representing a 28.7% voter turnout, according to official results from the Town of Nantucket.
The election included several local office races, including Select Board, School Committee, Historic District Commission, Land Bank Commission, Harbor & Shellfish Advisory Board, Planning Board, Nantucket Housing Authority, and Nantucket Water Commission. Voters also considered seven ballot questions connected to town projects and capital needs.
Select Board
In the Select Board race, write-in candidate Robert DeCosta received the highest number of votes with 1,919. Jill Vieth received 1,630 votes, and Clifford J. Williams received 1,161 votes. With two seats available, DeCosta and Vieth were elected to the Select Board.
School Committee
For School Committee, Timothy James Lepore led the race with 1,677 votes, followed by Shantaw Bloise with 1,347 votes. Jennie E. Cook received 1,227 votes, and Heidi C. Fee received 993 votes. Lepore and Bloise were elected to the two available seats.
Other Local Races
Sarah F. Alger was elected Moderator with 2,728 votes. For the Historic District Commission, Vallorie Anne Oliver received 2,410 votes and Raymond Joseph Pohl received 2,060 votes, earning the two available seats.
Neil Paterson was elected to the Land Bank Commission with 2,051 votes, while Beth Ann Meehan was elected to the Nantucket Housing Authority with 2,468 votes.
For the Harbor & Shellfish Advisory Board, Peter B. Brace received 2,267 votes and Kevin C. Korn received 1,052 votes, securing the two available seats. Brian A. Borgeson was elected to the Planning Board with 1,457 votes, narrowly ahead of Hillary Hedges Rayport, who received 1,354 votes.
In the Nantucket Water Commission race, Nelson Kenneth Eldridge received 1,853 votes, Curtis L. Barnes received 1,535 votes, and Michael James Egan received 1,121 votes. Eldridge and Barnes were elected to the two available seats.
Ballot Questions
All seven ballot questions were approved by Nantucket voters. The questions covered Our Island Home, school athletic facilities, town employee housing design, Loran Barracks, Somerset sewer, Tom Nevers Park, and capital outlays.
The closest ballot question was Question 4, related to Loran Barracks, which passed with 1,503 votes in favor and 1,381 opposed. Question 7, related to capital outlays, received the highest number of “yes” votes, with 1,916 in favor and 979 opposed.
