Nantucket Island holds a special place in Mary Wade’s heart. As a small child she knew what an amazing place it was during her first visit 43 years ago. She’s visited the island every year since and lived and worked on-island in the mid ‘90s. When Mary discovered her love for photography, naturally she wanted to capture her favorite Island in all her beauty.  Although “The Grey Lady” has changed a great deal and she currently resides in Connecticut year-round, she loves being able to show her children the eternal beauty of Nantucket.

Mary inherited her grandfather’s Pentax K-1000 film camera in the ’80s and earned her degree in Fine Arts & Photography from Loyola University in Maryland. Mary says, “As a mother to four kids and two dogs, I embrace the unexpected and shine when capturing the natural joy and exuberance of children. I have been told many times that my family photoshoots are ‘quick and painless,’ making fathers and teenagers very happy! I also specialize in landscape photography, particularly beachscapes.

I have been photographing Nantucket for over 20 years and recently self-published a book of my images. I also sell large scale fine art photography that adorns the walls of several businesses and countless homes, on and off-island.”
