Great News! Your trip to Nantucket can still include a trip to the Whaling Museum. The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is officially reopening their doors at 15 Broad Street. Doors open to the public on Monday, July 13. The policy of free admission for the year-round community is extended as a gift through the end of the year. Thank you, NHA!
NHA members are encouraged to reserve and visitors are encouraged to purchase timed tickets online at NHA.org. The extended Whaling Museum hours are from 8am–6pm, Monday–Saturday, and closed on Sundays.
Robust safety protocols to protect the public and make the indoor experience both exceptional and safe have been implemented. To ensure social distancing, capacity will be limited initially to 10% of official capacity. You have the option to walk the entire museum all the way up to the roof deck without touching a thing and sanitation stations are positioned throughout the museum.
Enhancements include a self-guided audio tour available using personal devices, a Yellow “Cobblestone” Road – à la The Wizard of Oz – to guide visitors through the entire museum safely. There are new exhibitions, as well as a brand new Discovery Center designed for families. The Museum Shop will operate as an online store and curbside pickup is even available.
The NHA Historic Properties will remain closed, but you can enjoy the beautiful gardens of Hadwen House and Greater Light, or the open spaces by the Old Mill and Oldest House during daylight hours.
