SUPTA YOGA

Supta Yoga has a little something for everyone. People from all walks of life can enjoy foundational hot yoga in their Root to Rise session. Their cool temp Yin class focuses on longer pose holds and is great for athletes, while those looking for a challenge and a faster pace will want check out Freestyle Flow.
Supta puts their money where their mouth is- they are a green studio and have several donation-based classes which strive to make yoga accessible to all. Pay what you can at their Community Class or make a contribution and enjoy their Live Music Karma Class- all proceeds go to local initiatives.
In late February, you can join director Meg Rhoher on a retreat in beautiful Uvita, Costa Rica. This 7-day excursion includes lodging at Selva Armonia resort and of course, daily yoga and meditation! You’ll also experience the local flora and fauna through beach and jungle excursions.

In the secluded hayloft above Bartlett’s Farm lies Dharma Yoga. The studio is spacious and beautiful, with large windows and wood paneling. Offering both group and private classes, Dharma Yoga will cater to you. Individuals of all levels are welcome in any class, and you just may have Joann Burnham, founder of the Nantucket Yoga Festival, as your instructor!
Those looking for a modern twist on the classic Nantucket yoga practice may want to check out Dharma’s aerial yoga class. While supported by a fabric hammock, you will focus on spine decompression, tension release, and balance with no more than seven other students. These particular classes are held in Yoga Barn and are available from the end of June to the beginning of September.

YOGA FOR KIDS WITH MARJORY

Nantucket Atheneum & The Bandstand at Children’s Beach
Children can enjoy Dance(sing) classes on select Wednesdays at the Atheneum year round. During the summer months, Yoga for Teens & Tweens is held on Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm. In July and August, drop by the library on select Saturdays to find Yoga for Kids (Grades 1-5).
Pricing
All yoga classes are drop-in, cash or check only, and there is no pre-registration available. The cost is $24 per class, and you can also purchase class cards with a discount. Additionally, be sure to ask about their reduced rate for year-round island residents! Children with special needs are always welcome and mats are provided.
Dance(sing) are sponsored but the library- they are free of charge and open to all with no pre-registration!

Whether your child is 10 months or 11+ years, Majory Trott has the class for you. Since 1995, she has offered a wealth of movement and yoga classes to keep the entire family active and engaged. Children aged 6-11 love her Yoga and CircusYoga classes, but friends and family of all ages are welcome to participate. The traditional Yoga course features breathing exercises, asanas, interactive stories, partner poses, and guided relaxation. Those looking for a bit of adventure may prefer CircusYoga, where they can try their hand at group theatre games, flying partner yoga, Thai yoga massage, and creative movement.
PADDLE NANTUCKET

Weather permitting, you can enjoy weekly yoga classes with Paddle Nantucket from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Stand up paddle board yoga, colloquially known as “SUP yoga”, has taken Nantucket by storm. Traditional yoga is adapted to an aquatic setting, giving the individual an opportunity to connect with the both their own body and the water around them. Furthermore, each Paddle Nantucket instructor has been trained in classical Hatha and vinyasa yoga, which they will seamlessly incorporate into your paddle boarding experience.
Each class is as challenging as you make it, and prior experience isn’t necessary! Newcomers will enjoy a beginner class, while those who have been practicing for years might look to Paddle Nantucket’s mixed level Fluid Flow for an additional challenge. As a Prana Vinyasa teacher and assistant to Shiva Rea, she brings a unique synthesis of asana and dance to her practice. She has brought elements of Prana Vinyasa to LoveYoga Fest, The Nantucket Yoga festival, and more. Here on the island, she has been teaching yoga for over a decade, and is also the owner of Paddle Nantucket.

Jessica Jenkins offers both private and group sessions by appointment. She will tailor her teaching style each student, with an emphasis on both precision and freedom of movement. Breath sequencing is a particular focus of each class.
In Jessica’s own words, her ultimate goal is “to appreciate your body and become aware of the mind and the noise it creates. To make peace with who you are. The goal is LOVE.” She is happy to host private yoga sessions for large groups, or to focus on mediation if that is your preference.
Born and raised on Nantucket, Lisa is incredibly excited to be starting her senior year at Dartmouth College. She feels most at home on the water and has an immense appreciation for the beauty and entertainment it provides. During the school year you may catch her taking a break from her economics studies to sail New Hampshire’s lakes. When she’s not assisting with marketing at Fisher, you can find her working on a new ceramic piece or catching the sunset from the mountains or the beach!
