The Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) is launching an exciting new podcast, The Nantucket Gam, on May 1st! Fisher Real Estate is thrilled to share news of this project that brings Nantucket’s rich and diverse history closer to residents and visitors alike.

The podcast is named after the term “gam,” which refers to a social meeting or informal conversation often associated with whalers at sea. The Nantucket Gam will offer listeners a fresh and conversational take on the island’s intricate history. Each 20–25-minute episode will center around themes that connect Nantucket’s past to its vibrant present. To bring these stories to life, each episode will feature a special guest from the local community who can add a modern storytelling perspective.

What sets this podcast apart is its ability to explore stories that go beyond what museum exhibitions and traditional displays can offer. The NHA aims to amplify untold narratives, elevate diverse voices from the island’s history, and capture contemporary accounts of life on Nantucket today.

Niles Parker, the NHA’s Gosnell Executive Director, noted, “The development of a history podcast has been a long time coming for the NHA, and we are very excited to launch The Nantucket Gam. Our Research Library and visitor services staff have planned extensively, and we are eager for both long-time members and new audiences to listen in.”
