“The number of Nantucket real estate transactions dropped to single digits in February for the first time in 14 years. However, unlike 2009, this dearth of activity stemmed largely from a lack of supply meeting buyer demand as evidenced by the multiple offers that took place for properties that appealed to eager buyers. Additionally, new contract activity during the month was just as strong as it’s been the last few years, signaling the market remains on solid ground and may well stay that way if real estate continues to be a haven for investors looking to diversify assets amidst unrest in the financial markets.”
