On-Golden-Pond theatre workshop nantucket

Theatre Workshop of Nantucket rounds out their summer season with the American classic, On Golden Pond. This play by Ernest Thompson is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning once again, to their summer home on Golden Pond. He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, with heart palpitations and a failing memory—but still is tart-tongued, observant, and eager for life as ever. Ethel, his wife, delights in all the small things that have enriched their long life together. On Golden Pond navigates the ups and downs of family life and ultimately enjoying the moments we have.

The production is directed by Dan Foster who returns to Theatre Workshop after directing TWN productions of Other Desert Cities, November, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and the Cocktail Hour. Audiences will also remember Paul Carlin and Peggy Scott from their stellar performances as Bradley and Ann in TWN’s 2018 production of The Cocktail Hour. Carlin and Scott are joined in On Golden Pond by TWN newcomer Mark Souza, and island favorite Sarah Fraunfelder. Adam Noonan and thirteen year old Tomas Young complete the cast.

Theatre Workshop of Nantucket’s Producing Artistic Director, Justin Cerne says, “I’m thrilled to have this fantastic cast assembled under the direction of the supremely talented Dan Foster. This is a beautiful production, that more than lives up to our collective love for this story.”

On Golden Pond plays September 2 to September 24, at Theatre Workshop of Nantucket, Bennett Hall, 62 Center Street. 508-228-4305 or theatrenantucket.org for tickets.
