Nantucket’s downtown just got a delicious new reason to stop by year-round: Café 22 has officially opened at 22 Federal Street, taking over the beloved former Corner Table space this winter.
Helmed by longtime island restaurateur Jonas Baker — a familiar face in Nantucket’s dining community with decades of experience — the café is already drawing attention for its vibrant approach to food, drink, and community connection.

What Café 22 Brings to the Island
Café 22 is all about community-first hospitality, great food, and excellent coffee, wrapped in a relaxed and welcoming setting. The menu features:
-
-
Fresh donuts made daily, a nod to downtown’s sweet tooth that locals have missed.
-
-
A variety of breakfast sandwiches, salads, pasta, pastries, and snacks — perfect for grab-and-go or lingering over a cup of coffee.
-
Specialty drinks like matcha, golden milk lattes, and Vietnamese coffee, continuing fan favorites from The Corner Table era while adding new twists.
Joining Jonas at the helm are Michael Ferreri of ACK Roasters as general manager and coffee lead, and Daisy Carnelia, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef now serving as Culinary Director. Together, the team is putting a renewed focus on craft, quality, and local flavor.

A Hub for Local Life and Learning
Café 22 sits inside the Nantucket Culinary Center, a Remain Ventures project that blends café life with culinary experiences in the heart of downtown.
This three-story space includes:
-
A courtyard patio and indoor seating that extend the café’s warmth throughout the year.
-
Upstairs space for cooking classes, private events, and culinary exploration — making 22 Federal much more than just a place to eat.
Jonas and his team are aiming to build on this legacy by fostering a sense of connection and vitality downtown — especially in the off-season — while keeping menus approachable and affordable for island residents.

More Than Coffee: A Community Destination
Café 22 isn’t just about great coffee and food — it’s about bringing people together. From themed dinners and community gatherings to coffee education classes and culinary events, the space is designed to feel like a year-round hub for locals and visitors alike.
Whether you’re stopping in for your morning caffeine fix, meeting a friend for lunch, or joining a cooking class upstairs, Café 22 promises to be a vibrant part of Nantucket’s downtown story.
