Raise a Glass to History

Nantucket has a way of blending history, community, and craft — and this fall, Cisco Brewers is doing just that with the debut of Stargazer Stout, a new brew honoring island native Maria Mitchell.

Maria Mitchell was more than America’s first female astronomer. She was a teacher, librarian, naturalist, and fearless pioneer who challenged norms and inspired generations to look at the stars — and at women in science — differently. She also happened to be, quite fittingly, a lover of beer.

In her honor, Cisco Brewers has created Stargazer Stout, a rich, layered beer that captures Nantucket’s heritage and Mitchell’s spirit of exploration. Even better, $1 from every pint supports the Maria Mitchell Association’s mission, helping preserve her legacy while funding science education and research right here on the island.

Join the celebration at Cisco Brewers on Wednesday, October 1, from 4–7 PM for the official launch of Stargazer Stout. The evening will feature live music by Doug & Co., exclusive Stargazer Stout merchandise, and exciting prize giveaways.

Beyond the festivities, every sip of this new brew helps sustain the work of the Maria Mitchell Association (MMA) — from preserving Mitchell’s historic home to inspiring new generations of scientists through interactive programs and research.
