Quince by Quinn

It’s not often that you get a call from a buyer in their 30’s who’s looking for a historic home, but my client came from one of the original half-share Nantucket families and wanted to continue the family tradition.

After looking at several 200 year plus old homes, we came across a 15 Quince Street located at the top of Academy Hill which had been built in 1812 by Joseph Edwards. Edwards was noteworthy in that he was both a shipwright and a house carpenter, professions that usually didn’t overlap. Remarkably, Edwards was 27-years old when he built the house!

The previous owner had been on the board of the Nantucket Historical Association and had taken great care of the home while residing there year-round. Still, the house was 212 years old so there were many reasons that we wanted to do our due diligence.

The buyers were appropriately thorough, and we had multiple trips with contractors to allay our concerns about the structure of the house, water damage, powder post beetles, etc.

Fortunately, all reports came back positive and we were able to move ahead with the transaction swiftly. The seller was very helpful and considerate with their time and knowledge of the home, even leaving behind a file of pictures and historical records of the home for the new homeowners. All-in-all, it was a great experience and I’m excited to see the new owners enjoy their home with their family as the legacy lives on here on Nantucket.

Nantucket has been a constant in Quinn’s life since he was born, but it was working here through high school, college, and beyond that fueled his love for the island. A native of nowhere, Quinn was born in DC, grew up in Chicago and Cleveland, and earned his degree in Economics at Colorado State University. Working summers on ACK at Nectars, various bars and restaurants, fishing boats, and building homes he got a “real job” working in the financial sector for a year when he got a call from Fisher co-founder, Cam, who offered him a job at Vineyard Vines. Starting off in sales and developing the direct-to-consumer business, Quinn was then recruited to run sales nationally for johnnie-O which was still in its infancy. He opened and ran the sales office from Greenwich, CT for nearly a decade consistently delivering results. Recognizing early on that no one wants to be sold anything helped Quinn differentiate himself in sales roles as someone who finds the best outcomes by achieving mutually beneficial results. True partnerships rooted in communication, honesty, integrity, and loyalty are the hallmarks of his work ethic. Quinn lives on Nantucket with his amazing wife, Graham, three beautiful daughters and their lab mix, Rhody. He enjoys spending quality time with family, racquet sports, fishing, biking, and is trying to find enjoyment in running.
