Millie’s Restaurant is a Nantucket staple. Named after “Madaket Millie” Jewett, an island legend who spent her life caring for the beaches, animals and people of Madaket, Millie’s is one of the island’s most popular dining spots.

Millie sold ice cream and greeted travelers from her yard on Hither Creek. Patrolling the coastline looking for shipwrecks, she earned the highest civilian rank from the US Coast Guard.
