Explore the Island on educational walking tours with the Nantucket Conservation Foundation. Lower Ram Pasteur is the next community winter walk and scheduled for March 27th, 2021 at 11 am. Discover the southernmost end of the Foundation’s popular Sanford Farm property, which is home to some of Nantucket’s rarest plants and animals. This area, which is also rich in cultural history, offers spectacular views of the ocean and the open grasslands of our adjacent Head of the Plains properties.
Future walks include the Massasoit Plains on April 10th. This walk is through a remote area tucked away on the west end of the island. Learn about the Foundation’s collaborative efforts with the Nantucket Land Bank to restore and maintain our unique grassland and heathland plant communities.
Then on April 24th, the Heart of the Middle Moors will explore the base of Altar Rock through the highlands of Norwood Farm. Follow paths through hidden valleys and view some of the distinctive kettle ponds that comprise this unique collection of rare habitats while learning about both native and geologic history.
